Possible Education Trends post COVID 19

COVID 19 made all of us realize and adapt to the “new normal” life. Especially for education, it has made us rethink and reshape the way we have learned so far.

We have seen/heard about the lockdown before as well during the war times, we have as well seen some contagious viruses spreading earlier as well. But the only difference is that this time the entire planet Earth is going through the Bio-war and earlier it was limited to a few countries/places. It is the biggest pandemic this generation has witnessed.

Over 421 million children are affected due to school closures announced or implemented in 39 countries. Besides, another 22 countries have announced partial "localized" closures.

According to a Dell Technologies report, 85% of the jobs in 2030 that Generation Z and Alpha will enter into have not been invented yet. According to this World Economic Forum report, 65% of primary school children today will be working in job types that do not exist yet.

Conventionally, education has always been based on “meet and learn” method. However post COVID 19, technology has been the biggest enabler. Olden days knowledge was always through reading and referring to the books in the libraries. Gradually we have scaled up to a click of a button and now it has to change in a faster pace to the next level of online teaching.

Right now the educators are rethinking the ways they have to teach the future generations. We now need to reshape our educating methods for future generations beyond the normal education with what we need to teach and how we can prepare them for the unprecedented times.

By keeping the thoughts in mind such as social distancing, staying alone, mental health which we have to maintain, yet we - all have to work together - collaboratively to solve this planet’s biggest issue of  “Educating our future generations” and enabling them for better lives.

  • Educating future generations has to be interconnected to progress collaboratively than having boundaries and differences.

  • Educators have to adapt to the new normal to keep pace with the younger generations since the 21st-century education would no longer remain like the traditional way of teaching an academic syllabus/ curriculum in a physical classroom. As we know most of the information is available through a click of a button. We need to ensure and educate on the following major aspects:

    1. Emotional Intelligence

    2. Flexibility and adaptability

    3. Creative and critical thinking

    4. Entrepreneurial skills

    5. Continuous learning

  • Knowing life-skills are the way of life for the next generation – Ensure on the creativity, communication, collaboration, empathy and of course on the 4 quotients

    1. Intellectual Quotient (IQ),

    2. Emotional Quotient (EQ),

    3. Spiritual Quotient (SQ) and

    4. Adversity Quotient (AQ)

  • Remote learning tools for the future generation irrespective of region, religion or location is the way forward.
